Cork County Night at The Dogs!!!

Over the last number of years as you know Cork County Macra has been reformed and since then, the regions have supported each other at social and fundraising events.

To give back, Cork County Macra is holding a fundraising ni...
ght at Curaheen Park on Friday the 23rd of Mach 2012. All proceeds will be split between the participating regions.

Tickets are 20 euro.

As you know Macra is a great social outlet and have given us all invaluable skills and friends. That is why we are asking you to bring a friend and show them what Macra is really about!!!!

Each ticket has a unique number on it, and at the end of the night, the grand prize of €1,000 will go to the ticket holder, whose number corresponds to the winning sequence of winners from each race...... (Complicated but worth having the winning ticket).

Music will be provided upstairs after the racing.

Tickets will shortly be available from your regions.

FREEMOUNT MACRA

Freemount Macra and Kanturk Foróige Concert

Well done and congratulations to all involved in last Saturday night's Freemount Macra and Kanturk Foróige concert in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk. In front of a sizeable audience, the youth of Duhallow performed exceptionally well, with a showcase of music, song, dance and comedy. Special guests, Freemount Comhaltas, also performed on the night while little Ava May Edwards, cousin to Freemount Macra members Daniel and Olivia Roche, wowed the crowd with her fantastic rendition of "The Boys of the County Armagh". Aged 6 years, she truly was the star of the show! Proceeds raised from the concert are still being counted but currently stand at a whopping €1200 with proceeds from the door going to the COPE foundation, while takings from the raffle will be presented to the Irish Sudden Infant Death Association. Well done to all concerned.

Avondhu Macra Titles Night

Freemount Macra had a very successful night at last Friday's Avondhu Macra Titles Night in the Crossroads Bar, Buttevant. With over 20 hopefuls taking part, competition for all titles was very high. However, following fantastic interviews, Moses Roche was awarded with the Mr. Personality title, while Karen O Sullivan is the Avondhu Miss Blue Jeans for 2012. Both now go forward to their respective competitions later in the year with the Mr. Personality weekend taking place in Kilkenny in April, while Karen will travel to Athboy on the June Bank Holiday weekend for the Miss Blue Jeans competition. The club are very much looking forward to two wonderful weekends.

Seandún Title Winners Show Glamour and Charm
Seandún Macra na Feirme members gathered in Eclipse Niteclub on Saturday 25th February, for their annual titles night to select representatives for Mr. Personality, Miss Macra, Queen of the Land and Miss Blue Jeans.

Fifteen contestants were interviewed by a panel of three judges individually– Michael Manly, Mary O’Neill and Marie Sheehan. They then faced on stage interviews and were interviewed by none other than our very own, Gerard O’Reilly.

The judges faced a tough challenge with talents such as singing, guitar playing and poetry writing to choose from. Finally a decision had to be made and the results were as follows.
Will Daly from Glanmire will be representing the region in Mr. Personality finals in Kilkenny in April. Kate Mooring from Whitechurch will be heading to Athboy for during the June Bank Holiday weekend as Miss Blue Jeans Seandun. Michelle Browne, also from Whitechurch will be making the journey to Dundrum, Co. Tipperary as our Miss Macra – Seandun. Maureen O’Regan from Kinsale will be in Tullamore in November as our Queen of the Land – Seandún.

A huge well done to every single person who took part on the night. It was great to see so many new members participating. The very best of luck to the winners in their individual national finals from all in Seandún Macra na Feirme.
